Come as you are
Many people are hesitant to attend worship services at an unfamiliar church. To help with any apprehensions you may have, we would like to explain what you can expect when you visit us.
We are just regular people. We are of various economic levels, all different ages and a wide range of backgrounds. We are not perfect, but we are all trying to imitate Jesus. If you decide to visit us you will find people who love Jesus, love the Bible and love one another.
Meeting in Chardon since 1961
The congregation held its first worship service on May 14, 1961, at Maple Elementary School, with about 40 people in attendance. Ads in the local newspapers invited everyone in the area to come.
On September 21, 1961, the church purchased the building at 128 Maple Avenue from the Assembly of God, and held its first Bible study and worship there on November 5, 1961, with about 50 present. Charles Steele presented the first sermons, and Theresa Cummings was the first person baptized.

men sharing the preaching and teaching
We want to be able to show “book, chapter, and verse” for all of our practices.
Since the Lord's church is the “pillar and ground of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:15), our purpose is to promote the teachings of Christ and to give our greatest effort to live by those teachings.
What to expect when you visit
Our worship services include singing, praying, preaching, giving, and the Lord's Supper. Through all of these we seek to glorify God.
Singing
We sing a cappella (without instruments), and everyone is invited and encouraged to join in (Colossians 3:16).
Prayer
We pray together during our services, sometimes for specific needs and requests (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
Preaching
Each Sunday's message is biblical, practical, and inspiring (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Giving
Trays are passed for the weekly offering. As our guest, you are not expected to give (2 Corinthians 9:7).
Lord's Supper
Each Sunday we remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:42).
